Trending Violence : Lynching over rumours

Image
Last Saturday, I was on my way back home, when I saw an uproar in my locality. Careless of getting late, I heeded to my eagerness to have a glimpse of what was going on. As I made my way through the crowd, I saw a frail boy, probably under aged, leaning unconscious and tied against an electric pole. Further asking to a localite, I was briefed that the boy has been thrashed for alleged child-abduction. I looked at the boy’s face. He appeared too innocent to be accused of the case.  The weals on his body were articulating the merciless attack of the mob. Meanwhile the police arrived, as usual after the crime is committed, to intervene and retrieve the body ( Yes! Body, by that time he had died). The day after, I saw news in a local daily that read “Boy lynched over child-lifting”. Further inquiring, I found out that the boy was actually an migrant who sells Panipuri and other street-snacks near the Collectorate and had nothing to do with the case he was accused of. Emergency -1975

The pseudo-democrat, rather despot, turned the vibrant democracy into a dictatorial regime snatching away the fundamental rights and with it the liberty to life. In the morning of 26th June, when Indians were waiting for the monsoon rain, little did they know that the dark clouds of Emergency were hovering over their head. And even today, when we flip through those dark pages, the poignant and painful memories flash across our mind and urge...

Ceasefire: Justified move of Govt?

Image
After a step back for one month, the Indian Army now sounds the bugle to pull ahead its operation all out to eliminate the elements posing threat to the crown of India. But this one month has cost India a lot and India’s declaration of unilateral ‘Ceasefire’ to spread the message of peace and harmony in the holy month of Ramdan has backfired on India. The militants understand nothing but the language of bullet and they have no religious values to adhere to. And so the appeasement politics has taken a heavy toll on India. The turbulence erupted after the declaration continues to claim lives of our bravehearts and the terrorism is surging high from root to the crest of the Kashmir valley with the aid of Pakistan and under the shades of Ramdan ceasefire. In the last two days 3 of our jawans and one renowned journalist have been martyred including the heinous murder of a Jawan of 44 RR, Aurangjeb.                      ...
